In a context where sport must remain a vector of unity and respect, the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security, and Migration has established an essential partnership with LaLiga to combat hate speech in football. This agreement aims to carry out concrete actions to eradicate this phenomenon, emphasizing the prominent role of social networks in its propagation.

A strategic agreement for prevention

The Minister of Social Security, Elma Saiz, and the president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas, will sign this partnership during a ceremony scheduled at the ministry’s headquarters. This joint initiative, also including the LaLiga Foundation, will allow for sharing key information and promoting awareness campaigns to the public.

Concrete measures to counter hate

Among the envisaged actions, monitoring, prevention, and awareness measures will be implemented to combat hate speech of racial, xenophobic, Islamophobic, antisemitic, and anti-Roma origins. Social networks, due to their viral reach, will be at the heart of this initiative. LaLiga will provide the ministry with its MOOD platform (Monitoring the Observation of Hate in Sport) to help identify and combat these harmful contents.

A commitment to a hate-free society

The partnership is not limited to technical measures. It embodies a strong commitment to a society free of hate speech. Minister Elma Saiz stated the importance of having players like LaLiga in this fight, affirming with conviction: “it is time to say loud and clear no to racism, xenophobia, and any form of intolerance.” This call to action underscores the necessity of creating a more inclusive and respectful environment in the field of sport.

This partnership represents a significant step towards promoting values of tolerance and respect in sport, ensuring that football remains a safe space for all.
