In a competitive Hypermotion League, Sporting Gijón and Levante are fighting to establish themselves among the top six teams. The recent performances of these clubs reflect a remarkable rise in power that could well redefine the race for promotion.

The success of Sporting Gijón

Sporting Gijón achieved a decisive victory of 2-1 against Huesca, thus consolidating its position in the fight for promotion. After a defeat against Elche, the Asturian team quickly found its way back to success. This match, played at the El Molinón – Enrique Castro “Quini” stadium, was crucial, as it was a direct duel for the promotion zone.

Goals from Jordy Caicedo, within the first five minutes, and Gaspar at the end of the match allowed Sporting to secure a comfortable win. Despite a slight comeback from Huesca, thanks to an own goal from Rober Pier in the 87th minute, Sporting managed to maintain its lead, finishing with a total of 18 points and occupying fifth place in the standings.

Levante regains its colors

For its part, Levante also found its way back to victory by defeating Deportivo de La Coruña, also by a score of 2-1. This victory marked the end of a difficult period of three matches without success for the club. The double scorer Iván Romero proved decisive, although Deportivo reacted too late with a goal from Barbero.

This performance allowed Levante to climb the standings as well, finding itself level on points with Sporting, Eibar, and Mirandés, respectively sixth, seventh, and eighth. Levante’s positive momentum could favor its ascent in the coming matches.

Implications for the standings

With these results, the Hypermotion League table intensifies, with every point counting in the battle for promotion spots. Sporting and Levante currently find themselves under threat from other teams like Eibar, which is just a few points behind.
