Max Kruse, former professional player, expresses his desire to join FC Schalke 04, showing his availability to bring his experience to the team. As the club goes through a difficult period, this proposal raises many questions about his current abilities.
A career rich in experiences
Max Kruse has proven his skills on the field through an impressive career. With more than 300 matches in the Bundesliga, he has accumulated 97 goals and 79 assists. His journey has led him to play for iconic teams such as Werder Bremen, FC St. Pauli, SC Freiburg, and VfL Wolfsburg, as well as foreign clubs like Fenerbahce in Istanbul.
However, after terminating his contract with SC Paderborn at the end of 2023, he joined the local team BSV Al-Dersimspor II in April 2024. This return to play in the amateur circuit raises doubts about his current physical condition.
An ambitious return proposed
In the podcast “Flatterball,” co-hosted with Martin Harnik, Kruse expressed his desire to return to the highest level. He stated: “I have the solution at hand. They should just contact me. In January, I will be there and fit for the second half of the season. We can turn things around.”
However, it is important to note that his physical condition appears concerning, with a reported body fat percentage of 33%, well above the professional standards that range between 8% and 13%.
The stakes of a possible transfer
While he seems determined to regain adequate physical condition by January, the question remains: is a return to Schalke 04 realistic? Kruse expressed skepticism about the team’s dynamics, mentioning: “It’s difficult when ten people think they know everything.”
FC Schalke 04, currently struggling, must carefully evaluate this offer. Kruse’s experience and talent may seem appealing, but physical condition should not be overlooked. The evolution of this situation will be closely monitored in the coming months.
